One of our past students, Emma Edwardes, speaks about her experiences training in coaching with FIRE UP, and how it’s encouraged her to pursue and grow her passion for coaching. Watch her video above or read the transcript below:
“What has the FIRE UP training meant to me? It’s completely changed my life. I know when knowing you hear people that go to courses or do things, it’s like, “Oh, it’s life-changing.” It’s like I actually, genuinely mean it. It’s hard to put into words the impact that the FIRE UP training has had.
I attended a leadership course a couple of years ago, and one of the components of the leadership course was about coaching, and I had my light bulb moment when I was like, “This is what I’ve kind of been doing most of my life without actually realising that it’s coaching. I want to learn more about coaching.”
I did research on different coaching courses. Some were like weekend courses. Some were sort of a week, short term, or online course. Then I spoke to a couple of people that are successful in the coaching space, and they recommend FIRE UP. They recommended FIRE UP because it was onsite, a lot of practical interaction, a lot of practical training actually at FIRE UP, but then outside of FIRE UP as well, and that was really important to me.
The biggest takeaway for me out of the training, one is the great group of people that I actually did the training with, completely different range of people from different backgrounds. From day one, you work really close with each other, and you support each other. There’s that real friendship and support, which I still have even though I finished the course last year. So that’s been a big takeaway for me.
The training was just fantastic. The trainers are just wonderful and so experienced and were able to give so much guidance and support throughout the whole training. The wonderful tools and techniques that FIRE UP gives you and the great manual that you get throughout the training is just fantastic, and that’s something I keep referring to in my coaching, and it’s just superb.
I’ve always been someone throughout my life, whether at work or personally, who’s always wanted to help others, and I’ve kind of been doing informal coaching without sort of realising it. So the training has really set for me the foundation of skills that I already had without realising, or maybe I did realise, but didn’t have the confidence to do it. The FIRE UP training drew out that confidence, and the feedback that I got during the course was just fantastic, and it really just motivated me to keep going.”
